Charity is great, as long as its voluntary. Government taxing one group of people to pay another is immoral and inneficient. Government acts as a big, bloated, beauracratic middle-man and private interests are allowed to skim off the top before the aid reaches the intended recipients. Charity is better done through private organizations and individuals on a voluntary basis. This is better from a moral (not "robbing Peter to pay Paul") and practical perspective.
