Supongo que Manu se refiere a la Ciudad de México (el hoyo = hole). Ya que está rodeada de montañas, el smog se acumula, y también podría ser una metáfora a que la Ciudad de México es muy surrealista.

@vtocce My understanding of Chavez's attempts at reform only went as far as withdrawing the limit on the number of terms a leader might seek re-election. They would still need to be re-elected. In what way is this dictatorial?
Perhaps you would prefer the continuation of previous US puppet regimes?...

what does 9/11 and all the world leaders have to do about a song that talks about neighborhoods or colonias in Mexico? Live footage is good, but George bush and Osama Bin Laden in the video? I don't understand.

good question, i have no idea why i put all that in there, i think i was really pissed off about world events at the time and the mood of the music seemed to fit, i think the lyric that most stood out to me was that his neighborhood is a boiling cauldron and i felt like the world was one big boiling cauldron at the time, but yeah most of that stuff doesnt go along with the lyrics. good catch.

So Hugo Chavez, George Bush, and every one else on earth are equally guilty. If everyone is guilty, then, by inference, no one really is, and I am the moral equivalent of Hitler.
If you have your head plugged far enough up your posterior, the murderer of 1 million Iraqis, and an eccentric but benevolent Latin American leader may appear indistinguishable.
Btw, Manu Chao played a massive concert in Caracas in support of Chavez in 2006.

Not sure if you have been keeping up on your friend Chavez, but he's trying to push through Constitutional reforms this week that will basically open the door for complete dictatorship. Even the staunch pro-Chavez socialists are turning on him, like Ramon Martinez and General Baduel who supported his rise to power and help defeat the 2002 coup attempt.
