Hankie Pankie & The Raven are relatively new tunes and composed by Chris Perry a.k.a. Peakfiddler, around December 2008. Meant to be played in a 'lumpy english dance tune style'. Keep an eye on the www.peakfiddler.co.uk website during the next couple of weeks and I will upload the musical notation.

  • Beautiful set of tunes! Chris, I was wondering ... what do you use for your backing? Do you write out an accompaniment and then use a DAW or some other software such as e.g. band in a box? I ave a whole pile of tunes I'd like to record for YouTube but, lacking guitar/keyboard skills I'm kinda stuck for backing...

  • I recorded this at the same time that I filmed the video. I used a condensor microphone which is just out of shot, to record the track onto a DAW program.

Then I record the guitar and bass parts separately and mix down to make the final track. Finally, I delete the camera's recorded audio track and insert the mixed track.

Band in the box is a great way to produce backing tracks for fiddle tunes. I have used it from time to time. However, this track was recorded with ordinary instruments.

  • Please message me what the song is called

  • The first is called "Hankie Pankie" and the second is called "The Raven"

  • good musics really makes me happy and your fiddle music is one of my best that always keeps me happy and cheer up.....is your CD ready yet PEAK FIDDLER......thanx for your music once again

  • neshamon, It's taking a while longer than I anticipated. I now have a good piano player to accompany me, so it should be worth the wait...Thank you for all your kind comments.

Jorjonzn, I have tried to reply to you on so many occasions, but youtube doesn't seem to allow early posts. In answer to your questions, I use dominant meduim strings, I do not use a shoulder rest as I am self taught and never really got into the hang of using them, Check the peakfiddler website for sheet music.

  • Nice tunes to dance to, be they Morris or country dance. It's a bit like Cape

Breton style. Lee Cremo would have had fun with these tunes. New Brunswick Can.

  • how many violins do you own in the room you are playing in ?

  • @peakfiddler Many thanks for the info, I'll keep B-in-a-B in mind!
