Subdivisions are little communist dictatorships many times, other people live telling you what you can and cant do with your own property, Glad I'm in the boonies - no zoning and no one dictating what I do unless it's unhealthy or illegal.

So I'm thinking of starting ham radio. I'm 15 years old. How much money do you think I should spend to at least get a basic system to operate ham radio? Thanks. -Scott

@phoshizzo Probably a couple of hundred for a new handheld 2 meter radio. More for HF. Google Teen Radio Journey to listen to Paul's podcasts about getting licensed and going on hamradio. Randy

I live in a subdivde so I don't think they would be happy if I put in a 200 foot Cellphone tower in my back yard with all of these beams in the sky.
