I wrote Heartache and Regret in 1999 and then added a new verse in 2008 to pitch to the country singer George Strait. I never did. Oh the regret.

That creep of a husband of hers. Sorry if it hits too close to home, but the truth hurts. Some men may feel real regret. I don't know if he does, but it would kill me. And then my wife would too. And after that, my daughter would kill me.
NOTE: I wrote this song before he cheated on her. Little could I know, that when the SOB did, they would indeed have twins. (A little girl and a little boy.)

The other weird thing is, there is a mystery female voice in this song at 3:42 (left channel).
