Sonic3 Glitch - Join Knuckles on the Ledge

Everyone knows you can save yourself from falling when Knuckles blows the bridge out near the beginning of the game, but did you know you can join him up on his little ledge where he's laughing? =^p
No, you don't need 99 lives or all the Super Chaos Emeralds to activate this. (I was just showing off ;^) No Game Genie or other such hacking device needed, either. However, you DO need to be playing as Tails.
I tested it in both Sonic3 and "Sonic 3 & Knuckles," in both the PC version (Sonic & Knuckles Collection) and the Gamecube version (Sonic Mega Collection).
Considering it worked in all 4 places, I'm guessing it works in all versions of Sonic The Hedgehog3, period. =^p This game has been ported so many times I couldn't possibly test them all though. If you find one it doesn't work with, let me know please. =^)

For instructions on activating the glitch, read the green annotations. Looking back on it, I recorded way more than I needed to, so you can skip to 0:50 to get straight to the instructions if you want. ;^)

I filmed myself playing the PC version of the game. I figure it'll make it more fun to watch, because most Sonic fans aren't used to the MIDI versions of the music. Even less are used to hearing it output through a PSR-290 Yamaha keyboard! ;^)
Sorry, but when recording the music through my keyboard like this, it was hard to get both music and sound, so I went for music only. =^(
It took me over a week to upload this stupid thing after it was finished because YouTube wasn't cooperating. ¬_¬

Funny you should mention that; that's actually how I found this glitch. ;^)

I heard about the glitch where Knuckles' color changes slightly when you insert the Sonic & Knuckles cartridge, (fans nicknamed the alternate pinkish color with yellow socks "Chuckles"). Curious to see if SEGA fixed it in the PC version or not, I went and replayed the first level. Before shutting the game off I started goofing around and accidentally landed on top of the capture egg. =^p

You can also do this with Sonic as well. Basically do the same thing that is done in this video, except while playing with Sonic, make sure he keeps the Lightning Shield during the battle with Robotnik, destroy the egg capsule when its farthest to the right (as well as at its lowest possible position), then do the double jump onto the capsule and then above the invisible wall over to Knuckles.
