Two main difference, Paulette Carlson has the unique smoky vocals that's unmistakably recognizable, Nikki Nelson has the flat boring vocals that can get lost amongst other female singers. Paulette over Nikki any-day.

@XTAZLA um nope. Highway 101 was started because of Paulette Carlson. After her failed start as a solo act in 1983-1984, her manager Chuck Morris and her auditioned musicians for a band where Paulette would serve as the core center piece. Paulette's mother even gave the band their name so it's all about Paulette and Nikki should thank her lucky stars Paulette decided to go solo again because of Cactus' hunger to record his songs. Practice what you preach and keep it shut.

I have known Nikki for years she was a bartender at the Nashville Palace and i have known her all thru these years and she is great and has an awesome voice and i prefer her over Paulette any day! I still keep in touch with her and she is beautiful inside and out!
