The World's Largest Ever Male Voice Choir from the old Cardiff Arms Park in Wales sing "Were You There" (May 1993) ... I was there. I am there every day.

  • Sounds good but there are some seriously dodgy hair cuts out there..

  • @dravidwake

Ha ha! ... The following perhaps may be apropos? ... In the film 'The Jolson Story' The Cantor's son (little Asa) has run away from home, and is found in St. Mary's Home for boys ... Asa is singing "Ava Maria" with a boy choir ... the Cantor indignantly shakes his head, when he sees him, and says "Asa, singing without his cap on" and the priest turns to him and replies: "It isn't so much what is on the head as what is in the heart, is it Cantor?"

  • @2havago Indeed. I am not doubting the hwl of the boys. But how many wigs can be spotted in this clip? I spotted at least 11! And the fashion was for BIG spectacles in 1993! I wonder how many of these singers have passed into the great choir in the sky since this performance. Male Voice Choirs are going the way of the dinosaurs....

Ironically: If you seek out my upload of the World Choir singing "Jacobs Ladder and Soldiers Chorus" you will find, in the comments column, two recent mentions of death.

  • makes me wonder what would happen if the entire world would be able to sing together... might cause an earthquake

  • @Logixmaster

    Interesting thought....

  • well it's better than all women choirs because when all women choirs sing the choir doesn't sound full... no bass

  • @Albertanator /The work of the Innocence Project. Texas Gov. Perry executed a man accused of burning his house with daughters inside. Now the "evidence" is shown to be mistaken..Imagine the tragedy. This month in Pakistan a woman was killed for being a "witch." (The Old Testament says "Thou shall not suffer a witch to live."- see Salem, 1695.) An Afghan mother was executed for having a baby girl (her third daughter). The executioners are also murderers, in a system of Medieval justice. Cheers.

  • @SMNONA100 Sorry but you are wrong...Capital Punishment is well merited for murderers like Manson and Sirhan Sirhan and Mark David Chapman.....when we know that someone is guilty of taking another human life for 100 percent sure, then we need to put them down..their is nothing in the Greek Bible against Capital Punishment....we need to forgive murderers for the evil they have done but they still have to suffer the consquences of their actions. Back on topic....great performance here..

  • @Albertanator All but a few nations have abandoned capital punishment. N. Korea, Iran, China, and the U.S. continue. It is gratuitous murder by the state (the people), as the least costly course is a life sentence, even though it doesn't follow Old Testament vengeance.. But neither do we burn witches now. Your last sentence is at the heart of the problem, and I applaud its observation.

  • @SMNONA100 Wow...that is some poor reasoning against capital punishment ....just wow.....nothing wrong with putting murderers to death....however their is something terribly wrong when the innocent are put to death......

  • What an irony that here in America those who purport to celebrate the iconic sacrifice on Golgotha do not recognize that the crucifixion was an act of capital punishment, which they most support, and that the victim, in this case, is held to be an innocent.

  • The World Choir did 2 conerts at Cardiff Arms Park, we also did a week in Atlanta, Georgia = if anyone has any more recordings would appreciate them posted...Have only a very worn VHS tape now..Als0 looking for recordings of 1,000 Police MVC concerts at the Albert Hall - again amazing experiences, some chords made the hair on the back of your neck stand up

  • one word! FANTASTIC

  • @2bumpkin2 Hi Lucky One! That must have been so amazing and grand, hard to imagine for people who never sang in a large choir. You are right, to coordinate and to make 8000 people sing really in harmony and together is a fantastic achievement - and the depth of the sound from 8000 vhoices!!!! I sang in a choir of 800 and only 123 basses in Beethoven Missa Solemnis in Sydney Opera House and I thought I was in Heaven! On which cloud were you when you sang on that night? WOW thanks

  • wow

  • @vertiturinterea Not at all! Have you seen anything of Only Boys Aloud, the choir that Tim Rhys-Evans (musical director of Only Men Aloud, themselves a much younger male voice choir) pulled together out of nowhere just over a year ago? Go on, have a look. The Boys are teenagers, and hold the musical future of the south Wales valleys in their hands, hearts and voices. There are several videos of both 'Only' choirs on Youtube...
