Cutting cylinder out of water heater mounted in lathe with torch mounted in vice. These will be parts for wood gas producers.

  • Yep, some of that went on, I think the porcelain lining was giving a little trouble as well, but it worked out about right in the end.

  • i saw you how to cut a gas bottle with security.

    2 or 3 mn to cut one bottle with accuracy.

  • You had difficulty cutting because of 2 things

    Your flame was carburizing (adds carbon)

    Your tip was dirty

    Use more fuel gas until the smoke stops, then slowly open the preheat valve and adjust the flame to a focused jet. The preheat cones should be about 1/16 of an inch long and be sharp. Next, depress the cutting lever and adjust the preheat valve more if your cones become jagged.

    This will help produce a clean cut at a much higher rate than the current rate. As well as being much safer

  • I also am green with envy over the anvil.  How heavy is it? I'd guess 330lbs. Do you know the maker?
