1- See a psychiatrist not a family doctor
2- Be open and honest
3- Take a list of your symptoms and issues.
I know this should be obvious but for some reason it took me a while to get it.

  • I feel like I could relate to a lot of the characteristics of BPD. I went to my family doctor, I actually wanted my doctor to refer me to a psychiatrist because psychiatrists specialize in mental illnesses. But instead she quickly diagnosed me for bipolar disorder and prescribed me with mood stabilizers and anti-depressant. I think I should do the same thing that you did by printing out a list of what I feel at times.

  • @MizzLM Yeah that is a good idea. Is there anyway you can see a psychiatrist without a referral? Most regular doctors don't have a clue about what BPD is. You never know though the med combo that she prescribed you might help. If it helps that is the main that matters. If you do therapy too that will increase your chances of success. If you ever need someone to talk to you can send me a PM. :)

  • What a really important video. It's amazing how many people will pay the money to see a psychiatrist or psychologist and choose to lie. One problem is that all of the axis two disorders have built into them and "altered reality" and/or massive denial. Your "plain talk" suggestion about symptoms is such an important message!

  • @clayewi Thank you. :) I know it's ridiculous that we would go seek help but then lie about what we need help for. I'm doing better now and hopefully I can encourage others too as well.

  • With all the progress you have made in the last year, I doubt you have had to go see the psychiatrist in a very long time unless it was just to let them know you are doing so much better.

  • @cymfsp117 I am doing a lot better it feels great!

  • No pregnant woman should be taken this toxic nerve agent.

They have no ethics so they will just treat you anyway.

  • Lol omg yeah they put me on birth control too and I was great mood wise the first couple months of being on it and then the third month I got really depressed again. So now I'm on my forth month of being on birth control and I feel fine. Idk it was weird...

  • @thedanizblog Thanks! I really appreciate it!

  • @thedanizblog I know - it's just like wow. I feel that we who are affected by and living with Mental Illness just have to keep blogging and sharing because I know that these videos are helping people to know that they can make it and that they are not alone. Later... Miguel! :O)
