@Dpkll5 Amen! Jim's "in-person" sound is monstrous! He played my '79 Gold Star archtop (he's not a big fan of archtops) but he liked the tone for a banjo of that age and he really liked it. His 1930 TB-1 Gibson he brought when I met him had amazing tone as well.
Whenever Jim plays, it captivates me and all the others around it, and we all mostly love the old prewar sound.

@nasty5oh It was also neat to hear Jim pick, and it was funny to hear him say (before we switched banjos) he said, "Well, let me see pick that ol' rascal!" Haha.
