Paris Roubaix known to many riders as The Hell of the North, world famous for being one of the toughest & oldest sporting events on the planet. The most important part of the race takes you over poorly maintained cobbled roads & tracks preserved from a long bygone era. Together with our extremely experienced Belgium based Tacx pacer we take on a 80km endurance ride over the main bulk of these feared cobbles. From Wallers (the famous gateway at Pont Gibus) to Carrefour de lÁrbre on a beautiful sunny Spring day. Visit tacx.com
Paris Roubaix earnt the name "Hell of the North" when the race was run in 1919. The route was through the shattered landscape that was left after four years of brutal trench warfare. The trees were skeletons, most of the hedgerows were gone and there were no birds to singoing. One rider said "It wasn't a race, it was a pilgrimmage" As for the poorly-maintained cobbles, I've heard some of the stretches of pavé date back to Roman times
