@Dermodermo010672 I'm a jounalist myself and I can vouch for Vincent's earnings. I get 12 cents per word providing it is printed. If you are not printed you don't get paid. Pay for journalists in Ireland is at the thin edge of the wedge. If you are a Barrister you can get €20,000 for three days work.

Which is better, an economy with lots of low paying jobs allowing people to develop skills and experience and work their way up, or an economy with no jobs?

Low paid jobs will by their nature support more higher paid jobs.

I had Pat Carey knock on my door once canvassing for votes around Glasnevin in 07, he heard my Scouse accent as I ripped him a new one (J Larkin would have been proud) he said 'You Scousers' I laughed and I said 'You Debt collecters and Undertakers' from that his handlers quickly moved him on- even his voice sounds as grey as his demenaour.
