@actorianknight The one on the right is a cimbasso. It's not technically a valve bass bone but that's the purpose it serves.

its a cimbasso which people usually say substitute a valve bass-bone but its really a substitute for the tuba in verdi's later operas...
weird though that you can get the sound just by biting it. most tuba players just arent up to the challenge of the verdi sound.
