WARNING! Improper use of injections will harm the fish. Please consult with a veterinarian before trying this yourself.

My goldfish Isis is suffering from dropsy, so I took her to see my fish vet, who prescribed injections of Baytril. The prognosis is guarded, but these injections are her best chance of recovery.

  • what was the ratio of Baytril per volume that you injected?

a local pet store donated their one eyed lionhead goldfish

here's how it happened. it was donated to a pet store. it stayed there for about a month. then one day i noticed that it no longer has its right eye. turns out the eye was eaten up by another fish in the tank.. i noticed the body "pine-coned" (name of a symptom i was searching for for three days). that's when i asked the store assistant about it and she said "you can have him"

Sorry, I don't know. Your best bet is to contact a vet near you who will treat fish, that's what I did to get these injections. But if you can't do that, then I would put a rush order on some MetroMeds from goldfish connection . com. They are the best medicated food for dropsy that you can find. Hope this helps. :)

yeah it died. I had him in my Quarantine Tank. i checked up on it after i woke up and it was on its side. i had it on some Epsom salt and baking soda. did Isis make it? how fast was the recovery?

fish are just a new hobby. i dont think vets care fish.

one of my goldfish that was reacclimatizing and not eating much has been harassed by a catfish. there is now an ulcerated side of my oranda. i dont know what to do.

i put the catfish in with the crayfish.

Oh, I'm sorry :( No, Isis didn't make it despite these injections. Sometimes dropsy is caused by an internal infection or something irritating the fish, but other times it's simply kidney failure which can't be cured. Since the antibiotics didn't help her, I think she just had kidney failure. Open wounds can sometimes be hard to deal with. If you do a google search for "Koko's Goldfish Forum" you'll find a good forum you can join and get advice for treating that. :)

  • I have to say I am quite impressed with how you interact with your viewers. responding to almost all of them as apposed to ignoring them. I applaud you.

I'm sorry you're having problems. What I would do if I were you is find a good goldfish forum online where friendly people can help you out. A good one (and one I am a member of) is Koko's Goldfish Forum. Youtube won't let me post the link here, but if you google it, you will find it. Good luck :)

  • Umm my 4 fishes are having the same problem..idk what to do but i cant ignore it. my vet told me to take the shot but when i took one to 1 fish i think it got worse IDK what to do now!!
