From Episode 1090, uploaded by request: So far, the flight to Hawaii has upset a few of the gang: Oscar complains about the in-flight movie, and Big Bird annoys Maria with his talk about Snuffy missing the plane. Maria manages to distract Big Bird with a pair of headphones; he falls asleep to an easy-listening version of the Sesame Street theme.

  • So this is how Dr. Bernstein got his start on the Street before becoming executive producer, I see?

  • Apparently so!

  • This may sound like a strange question, but why did they go to Hawaii in the first place??

  • They went because Buffy (a cast member at the time) had family in the area, and wanted to celebrate her son's first birthday with them.

  • So, did everybody close their shops down for the trip?

  • Luis stayed behind to run the Fix-It Shop (he hadn't married Maria yet); David worked at Hooper's Store already, and kept it open while the owner was away.

  • "Hey! Listen! They're playing our song!"

Gotta love Sesame. Funny on a lot of different levels:

1.) Big Bird using the old phrase

2.) Big Bird and Maria having "a song"

3.) Big Bird knowing his street even had a theme song

That end music is really beautiful, it made my heart hurt. The shot of the plane going over the sun is beautiful as well.

  • "How Green Was My Alley"? "A Scar is Born"? Bwahahaha! I love Oscar.

  • @Humanbrain001 Yeah. It's none other than the classic 727.

  • this is back in the days when flight attendants were actually NICE to you. now theyre rude and unfortunately they are more authority figures than hostesses

  • If anyone deserves the exit row, it's Big Bird.

  • @dwoodward1 Big Bird's a boy. He just sounds like a girl.

  • "How about 'The High, the Mighty, the Proud, the Beautiful, and the Disgusting'?"

    "NO, sir!" (gag)

"How about 'Grime and Punishment'? 'A Scar is Born'? ... rats."

    o:-D

  • If this was in 1978 I must have seen a re-run. Either that or it was not aired in my area until later.

  • Wow, I Love This "Sesame Street" Video Close From January 13, 1978.

  • Lol, look how old the plane is.

  • A classic clip! Love it, especially Oscar!

  • AND has been also presented by UNITED AIRLINES
