Expensive yes, however, compared to other brand's Gore-tex ProShell equivalents, the LL Bean Ascent is a bargain!

To TNPviewer - this is a phenomenal jacket. It's a high quality jacket, and if you compare it to other Gore-Tex Pro Shell technical jackets, you'll see this is a great value at the price. You should buy a lower quality less expensive jacket which does not give you as much durability or breathability as Gore-Tex Pro fabric.

I have the old ascent with the zip in fleece they are awesome, but with the jacket being $319 in tall and the zip in fleece running over $100 I was really turned away that's close to $450 for a jacket if you included the fleece I think I would actually buy it but not for over 400$
