  • This year was the worst. Getting there early didn't buy you much time.

I felt so sorry for the people that were being turned away by the Fire Marshall. The few vendors I could actually access were pissed and I don't blame them. I was prepared to drop a fortune but could hardly look at most of the merchandise. All I saw this year were a lot of miserable angry people.

I think it's time they ditch the idea of doing this in a hotel. They need a more open venue, like a tented field or an armory.

  • What day did you go? I went on Friday, got there around 5pm the line was not long, I had purchased my tickets online and pretty much walked right in. The trick is to go on Friday, get there early, and purchase your tickets on the chiller web page. You are right about the lack of direction, by staff and signs. And a larger venue is needed. Lots of new Chiller fans out there.

  • So I see you actually got into the convention too. I keep hearing of all these folks that can't get it in. What is the strategy? or is there a strategy? You sound like you know what your are doing. I was thinking about going to a Chiller in the next go around.

  • Get there early, Friday evenings are a pretty good time to go. Buy the tickets on the Chiller web page.

  • We were hoping to see more people in costume, but this was not the case. I guess Saturday is the best time for that.

  • Ace Frehley was there.

    Enough said.

  • A funny point about the organization: in the "celebrity pit" in the center area, someone quite rightly put up signs propped up on easels at each end, one saying "Enter" and one saying "Exit" in the interests of traffic flow.

Unfortunately, the "Exit" easel was facing the wrong way. People outside the pit on the "Exit" end had no way of knowing they were adding to the chaos.

  • I went Saturday, with tickets I received in the mail. When I went, a video like this could not have been made. You are actually showing dealer tables. I could barely get to the tables.

My camera would have shown nothing but heads, heads, heads, and faces of extremely irritated people.

  • ...add to that the poor organization. The "map" was worse than useless and this year they were STILL afflicted with Chiller's oldest disease:

No signs to tell you what a line was for.

  • The latest I hear for the Chiller shows going forward, they will not allow folks to purchase tickets at the door, only advanced tickets allowed. That should alleviate some of the crowd problems hopefully.

  • Thanks..will do.
