People do make their own songs, but, just as orchestras play the classics from Beethoven, Mozart, and others, rock tribute bands perform as popular or previously popular rock bands. Fair enough? Now go make some more of your own songs. And maybe start a rock tribute band on the side, or, as your main thing in music.
