  • Thanks a million to 60Otaku3 for this - my mind grew up on these early Monk recordings. Ask Me Now has to one of the prettiest tunes of all time.. anyone who can't hear and feel Monk is partially dead. (just my opinion....)

  • You're very welcome, Blackgeoff1-san!!

  • The rhythm section on "ask me now" was later used for the "Giants of Jazz" (Dizzy, Kai, Sonny...).

At first it looks strange, but the are a great team.

  • Yes, I also know the rhythm section of 1971 album "Giants of Jazz" was Monk, McKibbon and Blakey.

  • One of Thelonious' happiest tunes.Check out the version with Charlie Rouse on the "Criss-Cross"album.But I love this version, too. Some of the coolest work from Art Blakey & "Bags"(Milt Jackson)

  • Love this song, but I like the version off 'Criss Cross' better. Too much vibrato in the alto saxophone for me. But the solos and everything else is wonderful.
