I never thought to use highlights/shadows to bring back lost detail in duplicate layer blending mode adjustments. I used the luminosity blenders (blend -if), but your method is easier to control and looks better results, thanks!

@mikedimples Try the desaturated multiply + Shadows/Highlights to get detail out of anything (landscapes, accessories, fur, etc)

I used this on white skin and it just made it look gray or like if there was a shadow over the picture
