The KKK clan is there for because John Lennon said that children know more about the beatles than they knew about jesus christ. And it got blown out of context so the KKK wanted to stop the Beatles from preforming at a concert in the states.

It's just what was going on around the time of the year. So for instance the KKK was around when they wrote the song and stuff. I questioned the reasoning for them being there at first too, when I saw the show.
