Feed the 5000!

Dana went back to Trafalgar Square on the 16th December to join Tristan Stuart at Feeding the 5000!

Tristan, author of Uncovering the Global Food Scandal organised free lunch, smoothies and vegetables for 5000 people to make the point that rich countries like the UK currently waste up to half of their food supplies. The vegetables were saved from farmers who are meant to send mis-shapen fruit and vegetables to landfill. This was the Waste which was served in the form of a delicious curry and smoothies for 5000 people.

There were so many fruit and vegetables left over that the public were given free bags of food to take home.

Tristan was joined by Fare Share and This Is Rubbish

Save The Children, Action Aid, and Friends of The Earth and many more volunteers came out to make this day possible!

It leaves a big question as to why we waste so much food and why we are letting down our farmers who are unable to sell fruit and vegetables to supermarkets because some of the food grown in the wrong shape!

Take action demand dodgy looking fruit and vegetables from your supermarket!
