How did you end up with such an odd aspect ratio? 3.12:1 doesn't make a lot of sense.
-
the vignettes totally ruin this... the most overused effect

The shot at 0:13 with the post structure reminds of something shot by tarantino. If you can recall, what grading did you use for it.

@parravision2011 ever see Citizen Kane? And you mean a lot, not "alot"

This is incredible! You only hold the Sankor with your hands? Great! Very good footage! It helps me alot!

@parravision2011 Every shot HAS DOF. You mean a SHALLOW DOF. Also the camera only has a limited contribution on DOF. The lens has the major dictation. People who dont seem to know what they are on about really KILL it for me. Dont be so f***ng critical about a well shot test.

@JohnHFilms but this ain't cinema like. it's even too wide for cinema aspect ratio. go watching a new movie trailer on youtube and you'll notice it isn't as wide as yours.
-
@Kentiapalme That's why it's ANAMORPHIC. It's supposed to be cinema-like aspect ratio.

I like this, its too hand held though. Who says that real films have to include deep DOF and shallow? Its art. You can do what you like.
watching this again I noticed that you dident decompress it correctly! also a real movie dosent have DOF in every scene, it seems like the camera your using constantly is producing alot of it, kills the picture for me

@parravision2011 This was just a test really, there was no proper mount so I was just holding the element to the lens with my hand. It's decompressed correctly, it's a 2x anamorphic on a native 16x9 capture so it's a lot wider than normal. The lens was broken and stuck at f3.9 on a FF sensor so that explains the DoF. Check some of my other anamorphic vids for better examples. Like Redwood Shores or my MMPR commercial spoofs.

Is there any trick to remove the vingette? How do you like the sankor...i just bought the same ;) i got a 500d and a 50mm nikon. Do you think it works? Please do some more tests ;)
Great soundtrack and skilled shoots !

Thanks. The only way to minimize the vignette is to find the right focal length and get it mounted as straight and well as possible, it was pretty severe in this video because i was just holding the anamorphic lens up with my hands. For a crop frame camera you can probably get away with a 50mm but not with full frame. I am editing a new video right now with my DIY mounting rig and the results so far are good.

would it help if I made some sort of video tutorial series? I'm thinking about doing one to explain my methods.
