This beautiful performance of the Humming Chorusexquisitely balances chorus and orchestra of the Vienna State Opera. Every detail of the delicate orchestration emerges clearly. Years ago, a video of this opera on PBS showed Cio-Cio San and Suzuki seated before a blood red shoji screen, waiting for Pinkerton, who of course, never came. At the end, Pinkerton crashes through that screen when he discovers Cio-Cio San's body. This video brought it all back. Heartbreaking.
