At Republic Diesel we specialize in large cylinder block salvage. One unique way we do this is through the spray welding process shown. We also repair cylinder heads, crankshafts, connecting rods, and drivelines. Give us a call to see what we can do for you.

  • Very impressive indeed I've never seen this process before it looks quite difficult to perform by hand.

  • We have been doing it for quite a while but it does takes some practice to achieve the desired results. Thanks for your comment.

  • This is awesome. I've thought about this before but I didn't think people actually did it.

  • We were using this on vintage cars 20 years ago.

  • Is there any advantage to pre-heating the material you're spraying. It doesn't appear that there was any pre-heat done?

  • What is the brand name of that tooling (gun)?

  • The process is called a cold spray method where the bond of the spray medium being twin wires one positive the other negative coming together to form a arc as it shorts. The spray hits the surface to form a mechanical bond. you can also use zinc coatings to combat corrosion

  • this looks like it could save thousands of dollars, what an impressive process.
