Many people believe the City of Port St. Lucie, Florida went too far in posting a controversial sign at the 2009 July 4th Freedomfest event. They said the city wrongly tried to limit the freedom of speech of a group that paid to participate in the event. For this reason, City Manager Don Cooper apologized to the Treasure Coast Tea Party at a recent public meeting and said it was not the intent of the city to prohibit anyones ability to express opinion. He said the City Council did not approve the signs and had no knowledge of them prior to the event, and that similar signs will not be posted in the future.

I have to give credit to where credit is due. Mr. Cunningham, did as he said he would. He told me he would have a video apology out on YouTibe if the City Council did indeed apologize. Thank you Mr. Cunningham for being a man of your word. It is greatly appreciated as I know you were only actiing as directly by the City.
The Treasure Coast Tea Party has accepted the apology and will now focus on ensuring all levels of Government operate with within their means and with common sense. .
