Concluding chapter of my ETB footage, spotlighting the Skoda coaches, both of 40 and 60 foot variety. These coaches, particularly the 40 footers, form the backbone of the MUNI ETB fleet, and seem to appear on just about every route, save for maybe the 49 and 14.

  • Nice video. I wished that the video quality is cleaner.

The ETI's are a bit noisy, but are more reliable than the old 40-foot flyers.

  • Your wish has been granted. I studied up on how to get a better video product from Youtube, and posted a fresher version of the video. Since Youtube prohibits URLS in these posts, just look in the "More from This User" to find it.

Crystal clear ain't happenin on YouTube, but at least you don't feel like you're watching through a pair of glasses smeared with Vaseline! ;)

  • They really ARE Shhhh-koda!!! Never mind streetcars/trams, this really is the kind of "green" public transportation cities should be investing in again, IMHO

  • Super video :-)

  • 6,000 people watched this?

  • The Skodas (ETI) do have retrievers at the back of the coach. They're behind the rear panel and if somehow the rope gets stuck in the retriever, the operator doesn't have access to the back panel so he/she has to wait for the shop or the supervisor to open the panel to untangle the rope.

Of course, when the operator loses it's poles, he/she must put them back on the wires.

  • Only if the video is of higher video quality. It will be great if it is available in HD =D

  • hmmmm now thats a very good question: i think it depends on the model . some trolley buses have fast acting retrievers if one of its trolleypoles comes off the wire it pulls it down imediately. but i do not kno about the skoda. i think the trolleypoles have some kinda of hydraulics to put themselves up again.

  • septa rules because they have nice clean buses and air conditioning in the trolley bus i usally take the 66 septa is in pennsylvania

  • Nice Video!

  • Another great video. Maybe somebody can answer a technical question for me: I was told the Skodas do not have retrievers and, when the driver loses his poles, they can put themselves back up. Could anybody confirm (or deny) that? Thanks.

  • I Would Rather Ride The Old Trollys Than Those New ETB's ANY DAY!
