  • This was a beautiful morning and a happy time. Martha Greenwald and her husband Randy Schenkat pitched a tent in the garden, Oz, overnight and helped harvest 200# of rhubarb that morning for Lanesboro's Rhubarb Festival. There are brief glimpses of them in the video. Some time later Martha was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and despite heroic efforts died this past Halloween. I'm glad I was able to share this time with them and that it was documented so nicely by Peter Rosen and his crew.

  • I inherited an ancient Rhubarb Clump (Root) from a deceased Allotment holder eons ago. Not sure of the variety (Possibly a Victorian or Georgian Clump) and the yield isn't that great even by my 'slow world' standards (Can one put a standard on a slow world?), but the texture and taste is remarkable. My Great Uncle used to force his crop. Please don't forget the leaves are poisonous, but okay for the compost bin.

  • The man knows his rhubarb

  • Rhubarb is a frequent theme or trope in Keillor's work. He'll usually mention rhubarb pie at some point in the show. I think Lake Wobegon is famous for rhubarb pie.

  • ?? what does this have to do w/ Garrison Keillor?

  • very interesting

  • looks tasty :)
