ABOUT THIS VIDEO

An Emirates Boeing 777-300ER lands on runway 23R at Manchester Airport stopping in a very short distance.

This stands out as a fast landing/stop for the following reasons:

a) The aircraft touches down quite far up the runway.

b) All wheels touch down even later.

c) Reverse thrusters open even later.

d) The aircraft is still able to vacate the runway sooner than is usual for an aircraft of this size. They usually exit further up having touched down and activated reverse thrust much earlier.

You can see what normally happens here for comparison...

  • I suppose one of the most important factor that allowed the plane to slow down speed in this way during the approach actually was a strong front wind, then on the ground the other reasons

  • forgott a important factor:

    e) Strong wing (with same airspeed this reduce the ground speed)

  • thats awesome for wide body aircraft

  • @volcom1722 Looks like he engaged it at 80 knots!

  • @Neno8403 I thought it damaged the engine under 60 knots? I know for sure it uses lots more fuel which is why some airliners dis-engage at around 80 knots

  • в россии не подсускают на 100км, а тут прямо на полосе сидят.

  • @volcom1722 The 60 knot rule is not absolute. There are situations where pilots can use reverse thrust almost down to a full-stop. Wet runway conditions or airports with small runways, are prime examples of situations where reverse thrust is used well-below 60 knots.

  • @GBNKP Boeing 777-300er old? is one of the last models.

  • Did the pilot just use reverse thrusters under 60 knots??!? lol???

  • nice
