Billie Holiday, born Eleanora Fagan (April 7, 1915 -- July 17, 1959) was an American jazz singer and songwriter. Nicknamed "Lady Day" by her friend and musical partner Lester Young, Holiday had a seminal influence on jazz and pop singing. Her vocal style, strongly inspired by jazz instrumentalists, pioneered a new way of manipulating phrasing and tempo.
"Moonglow", also known as "Moonglow and Love" is a 1933 popular song with music by Will Hudson and Irving Mills and words by Eddie DeLange.
"Moonglow" was first recorded by Joe Venuti and his Orchestra in 1933, with later recordings by Ethel Waters and Benny Goodman and his Orchestra in 1934, and has since become a jazz standard, performed and recorded numerous times by a wide array of musical talents.
A recording of "Moonglow" by the Benny Goodman Quartet is part of the soundtrack to the movie The Aviator. and the movie The Fabulous Baker Boys.

  • It must have been moonglow, way up in the blue

It must have been moonglow that led me straight to you

I still hear you sayin', Dear one, hold me fast

And I keep on prayin', Oh Lord, please let this last

We seemed to float right through the air

Heavenly songs seemed to come from everywhere

And now when there's moonglow, way up in the blue

I'll always remember, that moonglow gave me you
