After the defeat of the Hereros, the official history was rewritten, the war and genocide was removed. When Germany was defeated at the end of WWII in 1945, Germany began a process of acceptance and apology for the holocaust, the events were regarded as an aberration of Germany History. It was only when Namibia became independent in 1990 that the Herero people revived the crimes of the second Reich, crimes that contradicted the accepted view of German history ...... 30 years before Hitler - the Germans built concentration camps ....
