Nahuatl language lecture Pt. 1 by Fermin Herrera

The Nahuatl language is part of our heritage. Nahuatl has nothing to do with Hispanic/Latino.
Nahuatl is not part of New Age, energy or the other distortions of our heritage that are found in our communities.

Professor Fermin Herrera of Cal State Northridge made this lecture on the Nahuatl language for the Mexica Movement in 1999

I will, one day, learn Nahuatl and teach others.

But before we get into Nahuatl, we need to learn our history, reclaim our Indigenous identity, and see ourselves as the owners of this continent.

Otherwise, we will just be the same mentally impoverished people, with gangs speaking in Nahuatl, drug deals going down in Nahuatl, with fake blonde hair and fake blue eyes speaking in Nahuatl...totally Eurocentrically.

@Outlaw91791 You can learn it here, the internet, get a Nahuatl-Spanish dictionary at 4shared by searching for it there - search 'nahuatl', there's an innumerable amount of methods of getting more info on the language online

I'm Italian and want to learn Nahuatl, It sounds so cool! Plus I respect the Aztecs as an advanced culture.

I love the Nahuatl language and excuse me for asking a dumb question, but if I learn this is it generally the same as it was in the 1500's when the Aztec empire was in full gear before Cortez the Killer came ashore? For instance, if I learned Nahuatl as it is today, could I go back in time and speak to Aztecs in 1500 or would it be different like old English with Ye's and Thou's and words we don't use anymore?

It is very sad to know that in Mexico, the peope who speaks Nahuatl are ashamed of it.

I live in Ixtaczoquitlan (city of the white mud) Veracruz,Mexico. There is an Iron rod company here that is built over a city or at least that is what many of us have heard. I know for a fact that they have found Archaeological items in several occasion since I have seen some of them plus I have heard of more. The owner is a powerful man who WILL NOT let the governmet take the place as national treasure
