Hacked Roomba Following a Laser Pointer

This Roomba was modified so that it would follow a laser pointer. It was kind of difficult to modify the infrared sensor on the to of the Roomba to accurately detect the laser scatter reflected by the carpet. This was complicated by the fact that one of our goals was to make all of the modifications internal. We also added a predictive tracking algorithm which allows the Roomba to predict where the laser will be even if it does not detect it. This can kind of be seen at the end of the video where the Roomba goes under the chair.
