film, cut, edit, output, track output, create effect then merge tracked footage into virtual cam and match up simple sort of plus I passed a degree in multimedia so this kinda helps having the exp and all.

That is pretty much the process listed man :P It's a lot of faffing for one effect but the simple things always end up a lot more complicated than they need to be.
