Tig welding with a old stick welder. An Air cooled tig torch, regulator/flowmeter, and argon cylinder turn any DC stick welder into a scratch start tig welder.
But unless you already have a DC stick welding machine, its cheaper to buy an Inverter Tig welder that comes with all the tig welding accessories like foot pedal, flowmeter, and tig torch.

  • Great *****. Could this also be done with a Lincolln 140C MIG welder ? I already have the gas.

  • @terrierbw1

this wont work with a mig power source..unless its a combo unit that has constant current output

  • Now I'm thinking I've got a air cooled weldcraft tig torch and am currious can I use this tig torch and just buy the dynasty 200 machine?? I don't know if I need a special adapter for it or what?? I'd hate to have to buy there tig torch with there machine when I could use my own tig torch.

  • @welderman27

the dinse connectors that plug into the machine are the thing. but you can buy miller style dinse connectors and put them on your torch.

  • Got into TIG welding like this. Having used oxy/fuel before an electric flame was cake! Nice vid

  • Did you tighting up that lead I seen it was moving around I would love to have that very cool

  • @weldingtipsandtricks I have a Miller 210 MIG... how do I find out if it has a constant output?

BTW this is one of the best youtube videos Ive ever seen. Great show!

  • Why not just go and buy a cheap Tig welder with HF start?

As a tig welder, the last thing you want to do is contaminate your tip in the weld pool!

  • I have a Lincoln "buzz-box", but I've also got a Hobart motor-generator dc stick welder- that should make a nice power source for TIG? Would be fun to learn! I've also got a MIG machine, is there an advantage to TIG over MIG? Sorry for the ignorance- I'm just a hobbiest- dune-buggies and various car related projects...

  • excellent video. this suits my interests exactly (have stick, want tig, little money) very well shown and narrated.

  • If you already have a buzz box, you can pick up a high frequency stabilizer and you can weld aluminum too.

  • set your gap and try brushing your filler wire between the base and your electrode to bridge the arc instead of leaving your tip in the melt brother.

  • sok a ryzs

  • Thank you very much for share!
