It's Going To Be Okay - Episode 16 Part 2

Joe: Am I smart?
Kevin: (Laughs a bit) If you tried, you would be.
Joe: So Im popular?
Kevin: By youre asking that Im assuming you know about cliques?
Joe: For some reason, yeah. From TV I think. I can remember some of the shows I watch. I dont understand why I would remember that over my own brothers.
Kevin: (Offers a comforting smile) I dont really think there were any majorly distinguishing cliques. But you and Nick were part of the same crowd, I guess.
Joe: Okay. So who was that girl that kissed me? Is she my girlfriend?
Kevin: (Lets out a light sigh) Yes. Her name is Demi.
Joe: (Smiles) She was beautiful.
Kevin: (Nods his head)
Joe: (His smile fades) But why was she crying and looking like she was in so much pain. Was she in the car with me?
Kevin: (Shakes his head) No. But I think those details should come to you on your own. Its kind of a lot to take in.
Joe: Can you have her come back?
Kevin: I will go see if I can find her (Leaves)

*In the hall*
Kevin: Demi, Joe asked to see you.
Nick: (Stands up) Does he remember?
Kevin: The doctor said that it will take three to five days for him to get his memory back. There is only a 4% chance that he wont, so it looks good.
Nick: (Leans down and picks up Demis face. He wipes her tears from her cheeks and then picks her up) Ill take you in.
Demi: (Whispers) Thank you, Nick.

*Nick takes Demi into the room. The wheelchair was still beside Joes bed, so Nick carefully placed her in it, then left the room. For minutes Joe and Demi sat in silence, just staring at one another*
Joe: So youre Demi?
Demi: (Nods her head)
Joe: Have I ever told you how beautiful you are?
Demi: (Looks down)
Joe: You are my girlfriend, right?
Demi: (Still looking down, she nods her head again)
Joe: Do you have a speech impediment?
Demi: (Laughs a little) No.
Joe: Im sorry that I dont remember who you are.
Demi: (Frowns) Me too.
Joe: Is that your wheelchair? I thought you walked out of my room a few minutes ago.
Demi: The Doctor tells me that I need to use it for a few more days.
Joe: What happened? If you dont mind my asking
Demi: (Starts to get tears in her eyes)
Joe: Im sorry.
Demi: I Uh I fell down some stairs.
Joe: (Looking at where she was holding onto her stomach) And it hurt your stomach?
Demi: (Notices him looking at her arms) I guess you could say that (A few tears start to roll down her face)
Joe: Okay
Demi: (Wipes her face) I should probably head back to my room (Grabs the wheels of her chair and moves them so shes facing the other way)
Joe: (Hesitantly) You could stay in here, if you wanted.
Demi: (Turns herself back around, and looks at him)
Joe: You can stay here with me if you wanted to, theres lots of room.
Demi: I dont think its a good idea, you dont know who I am.
Joe: But I will eventually. And I feel like I have a great amount of caring in me, for you. Was it always like that?
Demi: (Smiles slightly) Yeah, for both of us. But I cant right now, Joe. You need space, and time, to figure things out. I will see you later. Ill come visit you tomorrow or something, to see how you are doing. Ill make sure Nick keeps me posted.
Joe: (Disappointed) But who will keep me posted?
Demi: (Laughs a little, once more) Im sure hell do the same for you.
Joe: Promise me youll come say goodnight?
Demi: If the Doctor will let me, then I promise.
Joe: (Smiles)
Demi: (With a sad look on her face, she turns around once more and wheels out of the room)

*As soon as Demi left, Joe fell asleep. When Demi enters the hall, she notices Kevin sitting by himself*
Demi: Where is everyone?
Kevin: Miley and David went to school, and Nick is in the cafeteria. Selena, Im not sure.
Demi: Oh, okay Are you doing alright?
Kevin: (Chuckles) Yeah, Demi. I am doing alright. What about you? Sorry about the baby. I know it was the only good thing that wouldve come from all of this.
Demi: (Looks down) I will be okay. But right now, not so much (Starts to cry) What if he doesnt remember us Kevin? What will we do?
Kevin: He will remember, Dem. And if he doesnt, then we will just have rebuild our relationships with him. Hes going to want us in his life whether he remembers us for who we were, or is reintroduced to who we are.
Demi: (Wipes her tears and nods) I guess youre right.
Kevin: (Lets out a light smile) Do you want me to take you back to your room?
Demi: If you wouldnt mind.
Kevin: Anything you need Demi, Im happy to help. Joe would have wanted that.
Demi: Thank you, Kevin.
