Holladay teen dies following LDS girls camp hike

A 17-year-old Holladay girl collapsed and died following a hike at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints girls camp Monday afternoon. Now a community is grieving the loss of a talented musician and caring friend.

I'm in Sophie's ward, i was up at camp with her. I walked with her, i talked to her on that very day. She is an amazing girl and i love her very much. I'm glad that this video says she was LDS.The church was very important to her and she would be glad that she is remembered as a mormon. She deserves better than people bashing on her religion on a video about her death. Just comment on this if you care about the beautiful, talented girl that died. There are better places to argue about religion.

@shallwe3148 The LDS Church is NOT Catholic. That is very correct. We do not want to be Catholic either, or else we would just join the Catholic church. Members of the LDS faith are not perfect, nor do we claim to be. I have NOTHING against the Catholic church, but I respect Catholics' right to believe what they believe. YOU however, are judgmental, and you need to learn that you need to respect others' beliefs, even if you don't agree with them.

@shallwe3148 There are terrible people who do terrible things no matter what organization you come across, as humans we will make mistakes, but just because some people may make wrong decisions does not make the whole group a bad thing. I am aware of the fact that there are members of the LDS faith that don't make the best choices, but I am sure that whatever religion you belong to has people who have done bad things as well. The Church is true, but people are people, and we have flaws.

@shallwe3148 How do you respond to the hundreds of researchers who have come to know that there is NO way the Joseph Smith could have known the things that were in the Book Of Mormon.and for the record, Latter Day Saints celebrate Christmas in a more Christ like way then anyone else. It is a holiday about love, and charity,and if you knew anything about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints then you would be aware that those principles are exactly what our Church is built upon.

@shallwe3148 a Christian, by definition, is a person who believes in and/or follows the teachings of Jesus Christ. OBVIOUSLY you do not know very much about the LDS faith, because if you did, you would know that we believe in him as our redeemer, savior, and brother. We say our prayers in Jesus name.
