As for FF7, I'm not sure it's really overrated. The fandom for it tend to be awful (especially since SE produced the lame compil) but the game has merits. It does have a meaningful story, well developped characters and big twists. Deal with it.
But if you want something more impressive... you have Xenogears. It may fail as a game (contrary to FF7), but as a story, it has so much potential that it's almost a crime this game wasn't the one to get prequels and a remake.

Lol... FF4 ? Deep characters ? Hey, I'm a big fan of FF6 myself but even I can admit the characters are developped in a simple (but effective) way. And this game has a better plot/characters than 4.
I don't know why you get pissed because this song made someone think about a character from another series. Hell, I associate this song with a few non Gits characters too.

That 2nd episode with the tank has to be my favorite.

@diskincluded I don't like the game, I like the mythos. The characters. The World. I don't like typical FF gameplay, but FF4 is one of the best I've seen so far, and I actually found myself caring about the characters while I was playing, which is a bit unusual for me. But regardless, I guess I just see something in it you don't, and that's perfectly fine.

@Lordgale119 Dude, it's really not a good game, but it gets defended a lot by people for whom it was the first RPG they encountered. Now, had you said maybe Kain or Golbez....

@diskincluded And this is where Alternate interpretations come into play. Are they really flat characters, or are we just missing something that would make them understandable and deeper? Sometimes it's not about what you see, but what you THINK you see. As long as I can speculate and come up with my own views on things, then that's all I need out of a story.
-
@Lordgale119 Come off it, man! FFVII had some of the flattest characters ever to appear in a RPG!
-
@diskincluded And that's where alternate character interpretation and depth of character come into play. Characters with layers-like FF characters- can be interpreted in multiple ways, and this is one way I interpret him and the song.

@crazyjavi87 Well, I imagine that cyborgs and full prosthetics do dream, since they still retain their brains. Androids, not being human, not so much.

@Lordgale119 Ah, I see. Seph always seemed more like an "I am the superior being" kind of guy, rather than "Oh gods I'm wrong to exist".
Actually, it only really makes sense in the episode. It's kind of a negative view of "woman," to be honest - the man was born incredibly sickly, but helping him via cybernetics or placing him into a machine form was against his parents' religion. It twisted him, and that line is sort of him identifying himself as weak and helpless, which is kind of a crappy thing for "a woman underneath" to mean, but...
This entire song is tragic when heard alongside the episode. It makes me tear up every time.
