I wanted to put a small video together to illustrate how I care for my hatchling corns. I have the best turnout keeping my babies in small containers, like deli cups. The common size I use is the 12oz deli cup with a few holes in it for ventilation. I put a piece of paper in the bottom to collect feces and a bottle cap for water.

Feeding is done with very small live pinkies where most of my babies eat right away but some do better leaving the pinkie in over night. If your corn turns away the pinkie you can try feeding a different pinkie the second day and leave it in over night as well. Dont stress right away if your hatchling does not eat, they do just fine for up to 6 weeks without eating. After the 6 week mark you should consider other options.
Ive found that lizards such as small green or brown anoles are eaten quickly in some of my hatchlings that do refuse pinks.

I keep all of my deli cups in a drawer system like you get from Walmart that are made by Sterilite. The small drawers the I use hold 4 deli cups in each drawer and each rack has 3 drawers.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me and or leave a comment. Thanks for watching! :-)

  • My tub has a heat mat and the heat mat is warm but the aspen is kinda cold do i give it lobger or am i screwed

  • @c032970 Corns do best in upper 70's to lower 80's temps. I'm sure your heat mat is ok. Aspen works kinda like insulation, its probaby going to feel cool to the touch.

  • @Norrad01 i just got my cornsnake out of his box hes so ausome

  • @c032970 Excellent! Corns are for sure one of my all time fav's. Whas my first snake I owned as a kid starting out. Enjoy the hobby :o)

  • i bought 2 baby corn snakes last month, 1 refuses to eat. Im worried that it will starve if it doesnt start eating.. it hasnt eaten in over 2 weeks now. i've tried feeding in a brown bag, over night w/ pinky. didnt touch it. braining & cutting the head off.. no effect... snake ignores the food.. temp is 75ish, in a 10 gallon tank with small hiding spots & plastic plants.. my orange corn seems comfortable, eats right away when offered food, but the other simply wont eat! whats wrong?!

  • @piinkbunnii First off corns are known to be very picky about getting them started. Did the source you got them from have any issues getting them to eat? I would first try and cut down the size of its container, use something like a small tuppaware type container. They do seem to do better in smaller enclosures to start out with. If after a few days in there it doesn't start eating you might want to look at assisted feeding. There is a great video on youtube about that topic.

  • I bought a corn snake 4 days ago and it shed on the 8th dec i dont know when it is goin to shed next. any ideas when

  • @thomsora Well there is no problem with that i just prefer to keep them in cages but tubs are better for babys but it will work for an adult it just has to be well ventilated and no prob

  • Do you recommend tubs for adults? I know some people like to have the a large tank for height but im thinking a large tub would be sufficient given regular exercise.

  • @Norrad01 alright
