THIS IS NOT THE BEST WAY TO BACKUP YOUR SYSTEM, AND IT IS NOT THE MOST STABLE. DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!
I will show you how to make a bootable recovery partition, so you can avoid the hassle of having to reinstall windows, your updates, your applications, and your settings. I recommend you backup, and do this at your own risk.

oh one more thing, be careful not to edit anything like partition size or norton ghost may not be able to restore to it... at least I think... I am not sure since I wiped that laptop's drive anyway since it was a test laptop, so I cannot verify that, but for everything, you generally would want to be cautious.

Thanks for the advise, I think, to be on the safe side, that I will just create an image back up on a separate drive just in case. Since I have an extra 300GB drive laying there with no use.
Thanks for your tutorial though, just the idea behind it is great I have been looking for a way to do this whole boot-able recovery. Besides your video was probably the most concise set of instructions I found, Eating and all... ;)

be careful, sometimes I have had problems. When the bootloader couldn't recognize my partitions, it wouldn't boot into them sometimes. So, you may have to keep that in mind. It may involve installing the bootloader again to fix that.

nice tutorial, a little hard to follow and not the right OS, but I got the main idea.
I just wish there was a way to add an F command to boot from recovery instead of a menu popping up every time without having to rewrite the BIOS. This will do. Thanks.
