An 8mm film taken by Anthony Weir (www.auban.eu) with a Paillard-Bolex single-lens camera. This somewhat frayed and shortened movie shows the old Smithfield flea-market, the Friday open-air market, the Carrick Hill area, the docks and the Newtownards Road some 5 years before the People's Democracy peaceful demonstrations led to ruling-class lackeys' violence, and hence to 'The Troubles'.
The accompanying music is adapted from the contemporaneous "Rainbow in Curved Air" by Terry Riley.

@9mrmac Nice to hear you say she had a face that stuck in your mind and reminded you of you aunt. Was just curious if you knew, the flower seller was my grandmother who sold flowers at the city hall and then cornmarket for years.

@nellie1912 No idea who the flower seller was. In he summer of 1963 I was only 12 but that lady had a face that stuck in my mind. I would have seen her many times in the 1960's. She reminded me of my lovely aunt Dorothy.

I recognised some of the people in Smithfield, the Variety Market and the flower seller at the City Hall. Sadly the film also showed some of the hate-filled sectarianism for which my city is famous.
