Lupe Fiasco: "The title to 'You Are Here' comes from the map in the mall. It's about finding yourself, like you go to the mall, [look at the map], and you find yourself. 'You Are Here' was actually done for the Twilight movie. I did 'You Are Here' when we did 'Solar Midnight.' And when the Twilight people approached us to make a song, I was just in the heat of making Japanese Cartoon. So when they brought it, I was like, 'I'm not going to do a rap record. I'm going to do a quasi-rap record.' Part of that mix was 'You Are Here.' But they choose 'Solar Midnight' instead of 'You Are Here' and we were stuck with this record nobody wanted. And I thought it was another one of those records that was a good left-field record that broke the monotony of the punk stuff and got into more hardcore stuff.

"I like Killswitch Engage. I love Metallica, and I love metal. That was kind of like my ode to those guys. That's me doing the screaming on there. And it was just a straight rap record. And it was kind of like to serve the purpose of Twilight. It wasn't for the Japanese Cartoon record, I wanted to do something that had that less alternative feel on the hook but was still Lupe Fiasco. It was still me rapping, just in a different cadence and velocity."
