As an almost Colorado native, one of my all time favorite songs, recently re-discovered, thanks to the wonderful world wide web.

This vid is dedicated to my dear friend Krista, who vacationed in Colorado this last April and saw some of our wonderful sights of my fair state in person! We had a great time!

The pictures in this video are from all over the web. I own nothing.

  • As a CO native, I THANK YOU SO MUCH! I have been looking for this song for ages. We had the original LP in the 70s.

  • @stalzz

    Glad you enjoyed it!

(Took me forever to find this song! Digital version, that is!)

  • Oh my ! I haven't heard this song for 30 YEARS and sang along perfectly the first time I heard it here. It will always be with me. Learned it at Howbert Elementary school in the late 60s.

  • @margannaful

Glad you enjoyed it! (I remember how happy I was when I found it again!

  • Glad you enjoyed it! When I first found it again, I realized that I still knew it by heart, too - really surprised me when they decided not to change the state song to this one!

  • I learned this as a kid in Mrs. Martin's music class at Peiffer Elementary in Littleton Colorado. I still remember all the lyrics, and wish this was our state song instead of the boring "Where the Columbine grow" People voted this song down in favor of the Columbine song because they said this one was too cow-town. It may be, but at least it is memorable and fun to sing!! Thanks for posting.

  • @yokedforyears

    You're welcome!

I wanted the powers that be to change our state song to this, too. For a long time, I thought they did and was terribly disappointed when I found out it was never changed. Sigh. I can't even sing Columbines, but I sure like singing this one!

  • Hal & Charlie. KHOW. Memories :-)

  • Funny reading the comments. Does anybody remember singing this song along with every other 4th, 5th, and/or 6th grader from Denver Public Schools at the Denver Auditorium Arena in the late 1960's? I enjoyed hearing everyone else sing so much that I just lipped the words and listened. Good song.

  • I sang this at school in 1988 at Holly Hills Elementary school. Taught by my music teacher, Mrs.Greenwald. Good old days.. :)

  • Birch Elementary in Broomfield, Colorado in the mid 70's. Still brings a smile to my face all these years later. Displaced NATIVE, in UTAH.

  • @LifeMasterEnterprise Oh wow! I hadn't remembered that kicking off the "Weekend in the West" every Friday with this song until you reminded me. Now it's all flooding back to me! Oh how I loved listening to KHOW in the 70s!
