In-house promo that never aired. It was produced to show to ad agencies and at the company party.

Lots of video of Channel 8 personalities and staff from 1980. (Please remember, this was the disco era.)

Highlights of all locally produced shows at the time, along with some jabs at the competition. A humorous peek at Chip Moody while he was still at Channel 4.

This reminds me of how proud I was to work at WFAA at the time. It's still the best in the country ... hands down!

This video was produced by Joel January, who went on to be promotions manager for the ABC Evening News. I do believe he is one of the absolutely fabulous Channel 8 dancers.

Video transfer from Sony U-Matic tapes by Dan Ryley of Seattle.

  • I am assuming that the ad for the 3pm movie meant WFAA Did not carry ABC's the edge of night after General hospital ended, does any longtime viewers know if they blacked out ABC promos for EDGE and the stay tuned 4 edge at the end of GH,Did they tape delay edge to a early morning time slot, does anyone know if KTRK carried edge as well, except 4 ABC owned and operated stations , many major markets did not clear EDGE using that 4pm/3pm ct time slot 4 local programming .....

  • Chip Moody died several years ago, Troy Dungan retired, Tracy Rowlett was on Ch 11 up until a couple years ago, and Iola Johnson still does occasional news specials in DFW.

  • I am going to be a "Channel 8" disco dolly for Halloween next year! All I have to do is get a silly moustache and a spandex onesie with a glittery 8 in the middle!

  • Nice to see Mike Shapiro and Bert Shipp again.
