I love his little shimmy once he gets the string behind his head. Very neat video!

This makes me cry:) in a happy way to watch such a beauty and you captured it. Thank you.
I once watched the larva turn into a pupa and that was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. I will check out the rest of your videos if you have one such...
I love the work you do.
Thank you again.

I found the metamorphosis process fascinating as a kid and the more I studied these critters the I found there was to learn! While these older videos don't have soundtracks, I hope you're watching the newer ones in HQ stereo (links are in the vid desciption). I put lots of work into the music and it really adds to the experience. "Rise of the Purple Hairstreaks" one of my better ones. Definitely see it in HQ stereo with headphones if you want a good bug show :D Thanks watching and commenting!

Thanks for all the attention! :-) The newer footage is definitely better, at least in terms of technical quality. Some of this older stuff isn't too bad - especially the few which I did the "hard way" by snapping stills from tape manually - It took hours!

This was one of the first times I'd ever seen this happen, and was really amazed when I finally caught it in time lapse... Since then, I've filmed a bunch more of the Pipevine Swallowtail doing the same thing. One of those sequences is included in the Pipevine Swallowtail life cycle video. Enjoy!
