(cont.) USA knew we could beat Soviets on the north German plain using massed Armor, Artillery, A10 Thunderbolts and Cobra Helicopters, but if we lacked total victory the Soviets could out produce us in Tanks and if the war dragged on the USA would have suffered the fate of the Wehrmacht in 1943/44. Like the Germans, we could definitely win a short war, but a longer war we would either have to negotiate a peace or go Nuclear (which was a suicide move). Soviet's industrial capacity scared us...

In the USA I was involved in our transition from the M60 main battle tank to the M1 Abrams. In mid 1980's I attended a meeting where intelligence was shared on Soviet Tank manufacturing capabilities. We were all shaken at the ability of the Soviet Union to produce tanks in huge numbers. We are quite limited in the quantity of M1 tanks we are capable of producing. At the time I voted for the M60-A3 with the improved fire system and Turbo Diesel which we could produce in huge numbers.

@toffanful how the fuck couple of philosophers or musicians can do to change the fact that soviet union was a fucked up system. and hows their achievemnts reflect to your education? the fact u speak the same language doesnt make you nothing more than an ignorant russian cunt, who takes popcorn-documentaries a bit too seriously.
@kakarhu Uh dude, way to make yourself look ignorant. The Soviet public education system of the 60s and 70s was one of the best - today Russia depends on the engineers and scientists trained during those years.
Soviet industrial was second only to the US; Soviet healthcare was generally of a high standard. And considering the fact that we did not have anything comparable to the USA's corporations and financial markets for extorting and outsourcing to other nations, we did well.

kakarhu: I don't know where you're from, but dumb defines you perfectly. When your people can claim a Dostovevsky, Tolstoy, Shostakovich, or Tchaikovsky, and the launching of the first man in space, you can talk! Talk about uneducated!
