My college choir is using a tenor with a wonderful range as well. So beautiful!

Sorry, I should say, the basses SHOULD make themselves known in Agnus Dei.

I would just like to point out that especially after the soloist finishes, there is quite an apparent bass presence. Although this movement might not be bass heavy, there definately other bits in the work where the basses make themselves known. For example, in Agnus Dei.

No worries. Easy enough mistake to make. I suspect perhaps because it is a tenor singing it in this instance as opposed to a baritone, as is written. Perhaps this choir didn't have a strong enough 1st bass to fill the role, so a lower tenor was used instead. Common enough situation. I feel that this particular solo really is more effective with a baritone or bass singing it, especially on the falling 5ths. But that's just me. Nothing wrong with this guy though. I guess as a bass, I'm a bit bias.

As someone who sang this in college, under the direction of the late Nadia Boulanger, I really did know this. Cannot imagine why I wrote that it was a "tenor solo." Thanks for the correction. Naomi
