Kikaida kicks ass (Kikaider) - 1970s Japanese Super Hero

Android Kikaida (Kikaider) is an robot super hero in a japanese tv show series that aired in japan in 1972. Kikaida later aired in Hawaii and became especially popular with hawaiian kids of that time. The 43 episode series was originally a live action tokusatsu, as was its sequel Kikaider 01.

The complete original Kikaida DVD series is available with English subtitles through JN Productions.

I just finished downloading the entire season of Kikaida and I'll tell you that I STILL love this show despite its dated costumes and action. I'm 44 but when I watch these with my kids I feel like I'm 7 years old all over again. The magic of these shows is remembering how much we loved watching them way back when! DOUBLE CHOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Starblazers, Galaxy Express 999, and Gatchaman were my intros to Japanese culture, heavily edited as they were.

It's funny how much the Power Rangers took from shows like this, how little things actually changed.

@nutherefurlong These tokusatsu japanese superhero tv shows from the 70s are so much fun man. There was a bunch of different shows and they all fight rubber monsters. The shows now days is too serious.

Kikaida is amazing! I remember watching it in 1st grade in Mililani. Good times. I'll never forget the Gold Wolf and Silver Cat episodes.
