I was wondering that too why the XPT didnt stop at Rydal - being the next stop after Lithgow. But the Countrylink timetable says that it only picks up and drops off people only if required.
I bet there are a few stations like Rydal across NSW.

The Indian Pacific does not stop at Rydal - it only serves major stations. The XPT only stops 'on request'.
